Join us as we celebrate the grand opening of the Jim and Cherry Bost Arboretum with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, Oct. 10 at 10 a.m. The Garden will open at 9:30 a.m. to allow guests to enter and make their way to ribbon cutting ceremony in the pergola of the Arboretum.
The Jim and Cherry Bost Arboretum is the newest garden area to be developed and encompasses two acres between the Visitor Center, Driskill Children’s Discovery Garden and Tandy Floral Terraces. An accessible main pathway winds through existing native trees underplanted with dogwood trees, over a stream to the donor’s circle plaza and up the hillside following a shallow brook emanating from a water fall and small pond near the top. The path ends at an ornate pergola with views overlooking the Garden’s lake with glimpses to downtown Tulsa. The pergola features a roof with laser-cut designs of tree leaves traced by grandchildren of the Bosts which cast shadows of the leaf shapes to the ground below.
The Arboretum features over 100 trees including many types of oaks, maples, dogwoods, ginkgos and cherry trees. Artistic pieces in the Bost Arboretum include “Megalithic Toy” a granite sculpture previously donated by Burt B. Holmes, and nature-inspired seating created through 3D printing.
Garden members can enjoy tours of the Bost Arboretum on Friday, Oct. 11 during Early Member Mornings at 8:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m.
