Dr. F. Todd Lasseigne serves as President and CEO of Tulsa Botanic Garden, a position he has held since 2011. He is charged with bringing forth the vision of the board of directors through developing this public garden into a major, world-class facility. Prior to coming to Tulsa, Dr. Lasseigne served as the founding Executive Director of Paul J. Ciener Botanical Garden from 2005 through early 2011, and as Assistant Director of the JC Raulston Arboretum for 5 years. Todd is a highly respected plantsman, horticulturist, and public garden leader. A master plan unveiled under Dr. Lasseigne’s Leadership in December 2012 calls for the development of 70 acres of gardens over a 25-year period. Thus far, over $17 million has been raised, and three major aspects of the first phase of development have been completed: the A.R. and Marylouise Tandy Floral Terraces, the Children’s Discovery Garden, and the J.E. and L.E. Mabee Grange education and event center. Designs are complete and fundraising is underway for the final two Phase I pieces: the Lotus Pool and the All Seasons Garden. Through this rapid development, Tulsa Botanic Garden is well on its way to becoming a major public garden in the south-central U.S.

Dr. Lasseigne has traveled extensively throughout the U.S., Western Europe, and Japan in search of new landscape plants and has participated on plant expeditions in China and the nation of Georgia. He has also visited numerous public and private gardens, nurseries, and plant collections throughout the U.S., U.K., Japan, Mexico and elsewhere. In total, Dr. Lasseigne has visited more than 350 gardens.

Dr. Lasseigne is a well-known speaker on topics of interest to gardeners, nursery and landscape professionals, and horticulturists. He has presented numerous lectures throughout the U.S. and has also delivered several lectures to audiences in Japan. He has published articles in professional magazines and society publications such as American NurserymanNursery Management and Production/NMPro, Fine GardeningConifer Quarterly, and Oklahoma Gardener. He has developed and databased a personal collection of more than 40,000 images of plants and gardens.

Dr. Lasseigne served as the chair of the Plant Collections Professional Section for the American Public Gardens Association from 2008 to 2011. He is active in numerous plant societies and helped organize professional meetings for the Maple Society and the American Public Gardens Association. 

Dr. Lasseigne has been professionally recognized through several awards, particularly the American Society for Horticultural Science, Southern Region for Excellence in Doctoral Research (2004); and as an Outstanding Alumnus of the Department of Renewable Resources at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (2008).
