What is Tulsa
Botanic Garden?

Tulsa Botanic Garden is a place for connecting people with plants and each other. Generations of families visit to celebrate and make memories. Beautiful gardens, such as the A.R. and Marylouise Tandy Floral Terraces, not only offer opportunities for escape, contemplation and inspiration, but also serve as a living collection of plant life for research and conservation.

This living collection acts as an outdoor classroom for exploring plant adaptations, life cycles, and interrelationships in nature. Groups from pre-K to college utilize the Garden for hands-on investigation and experiential learning. Dynamic educational programming sparks curiosity in the natural world with visitors of all ages.

Mission Statement

To promote the beauty and importance of plants and nature to create a more sustainable and harmonious world.

Tulsa Botanic Garden is located just eight miles northwest of downtown Tulsa in the rolling hills of Osage County, Oklahoma.

Our Growth

The Garden started with the dream of community leaders who worked tirelessly over years to secure land and funding to build at botanic garden for Tulsa. Since those early days of bringing utilities and building an access road to our site (see our timeline below), we’ve blossomed into one of the most beautiful places in Oklahoma, and we’re still growing!

Master Plan

Generous donors gave 170 acres of land for developing a botanic garden for Tulsa. Our master plan lays out a vision for developing 60 acres of gardens. This plan concentrates garden spaces around our seven-acre lake, fully utilizing the beautiful views across the lake by setting gardens around it on all sides. These gardens will highlight the worldwide importance of plants to human civilization. Contrasting with these gardens are the remaining 110 acres of natural beauty, to be experienced in the western reaches of the garden site.

Tulsa Botanic Garden is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization supported by donations from individuals, foundations and businesses and governed by our board of directors.
