August – Wine, Tomatoes, Dogs and Meteors
We’ve got lots of fun ways to celebrate summer in the Garden. Look for more and more butterflies and lush growth and blooms! Remember our summer extended hours on Thursdays – 9 am to 9 pm – through the end of August. Starting on September 6, Thursday hours will be 10 am to 8 pm.
Make plans to see Lifting the Landscape – sculptures by Christopher Curtis through Aug. 26 – all pieces are for sale and a portion of proceeds benefit the Botanic Garden.
Thursday, Aug. 2: DOG NIGHT – Bring your four-legged family member for an evening walk (and sniff) in the Garden from 5 to 9 pm. Water bowls and wading pools will be out for cooling off.
Monday, Aug. 6: Registration for our Scarecrows In the Garden opens
Thursday, Aug. 9: WINE TASTING: ROSÉS – Pre-registration is required for this guided tasting of 5 to 6 rosé wines from around the world. Light refreshments – Get details!
Saturday, Aug. 11: ASTRONOMY NIGHT – PERSEID METEOR SHOWER – BA Sidewalk Astronomers will be on hand with telescopes. Bring a blanket or chairs.
Sunday, Aug. 12: SUMMER GARDENING TIPS – Get tips from our Horticulture Manager Dustin Stoll. Starts at 1pm
Thursday, Aug. 16: TOMATO TASTING & BLOODY MARY MAKING and it’s also MUSIC NIGHT!
Saturday, Aug. 18: CHAT WITH A BEE KEEPER – we’re celebrating National Honeybee Appreciation Day with a family-friendly presentation including observation bee hive and honey tasting!
Sunday, Aug. 26: Meet Artist Christopher Curtis at a reception from 4-6 p.m. in our Mabee Grange. Learn about his process and method for creating the sculptures in Lifting the Landscape on display at the Garden through Aug. 26.
